HP DeskJet Plus 4155 Review

HP DeskJet Plus 4155 Wireless All-in-One Printer

The DeskJet Plus 4155 is an All-in-One printer from HP that offers printing, scanning, and copying with an easy-to-use interface.

HP DeskJet Plus 4155 All-in-One PrinterThis HP DeskJet Plus has a maximum print resolution of 4800 x 1200 dpi which is optimized and can print at speeds of up to 8.5 ppm and 5.5 ppm for black and color prints.

The flatbed and 35-page ADF scanner allow scanning and copying with an optical resolution of 1200 dpi for documents up to 8.5 x 11.7″, and this unit can make up to nine copies at once.

With built-in wireless capabilities, DeskJet 4155 allows you to access the printer remotely, and with the HP Smart app, you can print, scan, and copy everyday documents directly from your smartphone.

This All-In-One printer also qualifies for the HP Instant Ink Program which, for a small monthly fee, allows users to automatically have their printer notify HP when ink is running low so that new cartridges are delivered right to your doorstep. This system can guarantee that you will always have a cartridge ready to use and prevents you from continuously monitoring ink levels.

The following is a review of the results of tests and trials that we conducted on the DeskJet Plus 4155 product.

Dimensions

The HP DeskJet 4155 isn’t nearly as compact as the HP DeskJet 3755, but they’re still a fairly small printer and won’t take up too much space.

  • Height: 7.9″ (20.0 cm)
  • Width: 16.9″ (43.0 cm)
  • Depth: 12.8″ (32.5 cm)
  • Weight: 10.8 lbs (4.9 kg)

Build & Design Quality

Despite having a plastic body that feels solid, DeskJet Plus 4155 has the poor build quality and overall the design is not good.

The printer doesn’t have a paper tray, but rather has a rear feeder that can hold up to 60 pages, which feels thin to pull out and put back in.

You need to make sure that the output tray pulls out all the way when printing, otherwise your paper will crumble. To access the jammed paper, you can only access it from the printhead compartment, which may be a little tight for larger hands.

The scanner lid is also not too high to place thicker items like books, while the power cord can be removed if it breaks and you have to replace it.

Display Screen

DeskJet Plus 4155 has a bad screen display. It is an LCD screen with a few icons and symbols on it, but it is easy to see whether you are standing or sitting in front of it.

There appear to be seven physical buttons on the printer to control a variety of different actions, such as copy, resume, and cancel, to name a few.

Cartridge

The HP DeskJet Plus 4155 uses the same HP 67 cartridge as the HP ENVY 6055 and has a pretty similar page yield, it’s actually a terrible cartridge system.

Whether you print in black and white or in color, the cartridges don’t last long, and you should replace them soon.

There are high yield cartridges you can buy if you want a higher yield.

The printer also accepts third-party cartridges, but using them may invalidate the warranty.

Scanner

Plus 4155 has good scanning features. They have a sheetfed scanner, and unlike the DeskJet 3755, it also has a flatbed scanner.

But unfortunately, the sheetfed scanner doesn’t support duplex scanning, so you need to flip double-sided documents manually.

Its automatic document feeder holds up to 35 pages.

Printing Speed

The HP 4155 printer has a very slow printing speed. It will take you a while to print each page in either a color or black and white document.

They print photos faster than the HP DeskJet 3755, but still not as fast.

Unfortunately, this printer doesn’t print double-sided pages. The output tray holds up to 25 pages only.

Cost Per Print

DeskJet Plus 4155 has a very disappointing cost per print.

The cartridges are cheap, but because of the printer’s low page yield, you’ll need to buy new cartridges frequently if you print regularly.

If you sign up for a subscription to HP’s Instant Ink, you will receive a new cartridge when your ink runs out.

Keep in mind that even if you print in black only, most inkjets continue to use color cartridges for service tasks, so you may still have to replace them eventually.

Photo Printing Quality

The DeskJet 4155 has moderate photo printing quality. There are still bands and colors in grayscale and the face appears gray.

Overall, the image has a flat tone.

Color Accuracy

The DeskJet Plus 4155 has excellent color accuracy, even better than the HP ENVY Photo 6255.

A printer is good enough for printing presentations or projects, but may not be good for jobs that require perfect color accuracy.

Connectivity

This HP DeskJet has the same connectivity options as the HP DeskJet 3755. You cannot print from an external storage device such as a USB or SD card.

The printer also doesn’t support Bluetooth, but you can still connect wirelessly via Wi-Fi. If needed, you can connect it directly to a computer via a USB connection.

Mobile Print App

The DeskJet Plus 4155 is compatible with the HP Smart application, which offers decent features. You can scan directly with your phone’s camera or print PDF files and photos directly from the app.

You can also buy new ink cartridges and perform maintenance tasks on the printer.
