Dimensions

The Canon PIXMA TS8320 is a wireless inkjet all-in-one printer which is quite small and is perfect for use in tight spaces such as your dorm room or home office.

  • Height: 5.6″ (14.1 cm)
  • Width: 14.7″ (37.3 cm)
  • Depth: 14.2″ (36.1 cm)
  • Weight: 14.6 lbs (6.6 kg)

Build & Design Quality

All-In-One Wireless Inkjet Printer This printer has a decent shape and design. It looks sturdy and is well-built overall; however, the output tray and rear input tray feel a little weak. The printer needs to be turned on to be able to replace the ink cartridges, and the display panel also needs to be raised during a print job, to make room for the output tray. While the power cable can be removed, making it easier for you to replace it if damaged.

Unfortunately, paper jams are not easy to reach, because they can only be accessed from the back of the printer and need to lift the rear input tray and remove the back panel. Also, the tray used to print CDs and DVDs is tight and difficult to maneuver. On the plus side, the scanner lid can remain open without assistance, and the lid hinges can also be slightly widened to fit thicker documents or books.

Display Screen

For the viewer, the PIXMA TS8320 has an excellent screen console. This is a large, touch-sensitive LCD screen that easily looks good when you stand or sit. The entire front panel of the printer needs to be raised while there is a print job because otherwise, it will block the output tray. Clean interface and easy-to-navigate menu. Also, there are instructional videos that show how to load paper or replace ink cartridges when they run out.

Cartridge

This Canon TS8320 has a mediocre cartridge system. Still like the PIXMA TS9120, it has a 6-cartridge configuration that includes the usual black photo and blue photo cartridge above four. Unfortunately, the black PGI-280 cartridges run out fast enough, so they need to be replaced frequently.

Color cartridges last longer, and there are also high-yield cartridges if you need to print in large quantities. When the ink cartridge is low, there is a warning to check the ink level, and the option to continue printing.

The printer accepts third-party cartridges, but that needs to be noted! Using it can invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty, and special attention must be paid because this printer uses a combination of dye and pigment-based ink.

Cost Per Print

You will get a good cost per print. For black-only printing, costs increase steadily, mainly because of the low yield of color cartridges and cartridges that do not need to be replaced as often as possible, but the price is a little more expensive, making color printing more expensive in the long run.

If you buy this product directly from Canon, you have the right to register at the ‘Auto-Replenishment Service’, which is an ink subscription service. This can be done during the checkout process.

Keep in mind that even if you only print in black, most inkjet printers continue to use color cartridges for service tasks, so you might still need to replace them eventually.

Printing Speed

This printer has a decent printing speed. The first page of a black document just comes out quickly, but for the next page it isn’t faster, and it’s even slower to print color documents. But strangely, this printer is very fast in printing photos.

For color accuracy, it should not be a problem for those who only print for their own collection or to add some color to the document, but it is not recommended for professionals whose jobs require proper coloring.

Quality Photo Printing

For photo print quality, this is very good. The deep black color and the color is quite clear, but there are some gray lines on the grayscale. These results are based on actual physical photos, not the scanned image provided for the above reference, which may not represent the print quality of the printer photo.

Scanner

For scanning, the TS8320 has mediocre features. They only have a flat bottom, but the lid can be extended slightly if you need to scan thicker documents. The lack of an automatic document feeder is disappointing because it makes it far more difficult to process long documents.

Note that when you use Canon’s IJ software to scan, the default resolution is set to 600 DPI. If you want to scan at a higher resolution, you must access the ‘Advanced Mode‘ settings and change the output resolution manually.

Color Accuracy

The PIXMA TS8320 has fine color accuracy. This shouldn’t be a problem if you are only printing for your own collection or to add some color to a document, but this product is not recommended for professionals whose work requires proper coloring.

If you need a printer with better color accuracy, check out the HP ENVY Pro 6475.

Printing Size

The Canon TS8320 has two input trays that support the most common paper sizes up to standard legal sizes.

Connectivity

Talk about connectivity? PIXMA TS8320 has exceptional connectivity options. They support most wireless connections, including Bluetooth. The only thing missing is an ethernet port. Also, external storage support is only for SD cards, not USB thumb drives.

Mobile Print App

As we have said, this is a convenient printer because it is compatible with the Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY mobile application. You can easily print, scan, and copy from applications, and order replacement ink cartridges. To print CD and DVD labels, an additional application called Canon Easy-PhotoPrint Editor is needed.
