Canon PIXMA TS6420 Wireless Inkjet All-In-One Printer

Canon PIXMA TS6420The PIXMA TS6420 is a wireless inkjet all-in-one printer from Canon designed for your busy lifestyle. The TS6420 is very easy to set up and use thanks to its bright 1.44″ OLED display that makes messages clear and easy to read.

The Canon TS6420 allows you to print from your smartphone or tablet quickly and easily using Mopria Print Service, Apple AirPrint, and the Canon PRINT app.

The printer has a front and back paper feed that allows you to load up to 200 sheets at once, and a multipurpose paper backing allows you to load both plain and photo paper at the same time.

Here is a review of our test results on the Canon PIXMA TS6420 Wireless Inkjet All-In-One Printer.

Dimensions

The PIXMA TS6420 is a multi-functional inkjet printer that is compact enough and won’t take up much space on the desk which makes it perfect for your small office or dorm.

  • Height: 5.8″ (14.7 cm)
  • Width: 15.8″ (40.1 cm)
  • Depth: 14.2″ (36.0 cm)
  • Weight: 14.1 lbs (6.4 kg)

Build & Design Quality

The design and build quality of the PIXMA TS6420 is mediocre. There is a soft lining that feels comfortable to the touch and the whole body is made of plastic. The hinge on the scanner is high enough to accommodate the magazine, and the lids also don’t close themselves when they’re fully extended.
The power cord is detachable, this makes it easy for you to replace it if it gets damaged. The rear input tray feels thin and it’s unreliable, while the output tray feels thin and spongy.

When there is a paper jam, access to the jammed paper is a fairly tedious, completely inhospitable three-step process, and the printer must also be turned on to replace the ink cartridge.

Display Screen

The Canon TS6420 has an OK OLED display screen. The entire front panel tilts upwards for increased visibility and the menus are easy to navigate. Unfortunately, the screen is quite small and lacks touch capabilities.

Scanner

This TS6420 printer has mediocre scanning features. The flatbed hinge can be extended to accommodate smaller books or manuals, but it doesn’t have an automatic document feeder, which means you’ll have to scan every page of the document manually.

If you need another brand of printer that has an automatic document feeder, see HP ENVY Pro 6475.

Cartridge

The printer has a very bad cartridge system. Black and color cartridges have a very low yield, so you will have to replace them frequently if you print a lot. Fortunately, there are high yield cartridges available if you need them.

Please note that using third party ink may invalidate the manufacturer’s warranty.

Printing Speed

The Canon TS6420 has an average printing speed. These are quite slow regardless of what you print, but they can do duplexing automatically.

Cost Per Print

The Canon PIXMA TS6420 has a hefty cost per print. However, because of the low cartridge yield, costs can quickly increase if you print frequently. Fortunately, they are not expensive.

Photo Printing Quality

This Canon product has excellent photo printing quality. Overall the colors have a nice tone with great detail as well and almost no shades of grayscale, but a hint of green is still visible in black tones.

Color Accuracy

The TS6420 has mediocre color accuracy. Most of the colors look inaccurate, and this may not be a problem for those of you who print ordinary photos. But this is not recommended if you need accurate color reproduction as part of a profession.

If you still want another printer from Canon at the same price but have better color accuracy, check out the PIXMA TR7020.

Printing Size

The PIXMA TS6420 has two input trays that can hold up to 200 sheets of paper combined. It supports the most common paper sizes up to the standard legal sizes. Printers can print on photo paper, but they cannot print in the 2″ x 3″ format.

Connectivity

The Canon TS6420 has great connectivity features. It supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and USB, but lacks an Ethernet port and external storage support, meaning you can’t print via SD cards or USB flash drives.

Mobile Print App

This product is compatible with the excellent Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY App. It allows you to scan, print, and copy and order ink from Canon right from the app.
