Here is a review of our test results on the Canon PIXMA TR7020 Wireless Inkjet All-In-One Printer.
Dimensions
The PIXMA TR7020 is a printer that is the same size as the PIXMA TR7520 and they don’t take up too much space on your desk.
- Height: 8.0″ (20.4 cm)
- Width: 15.9″ (40.4 cm)
- Depth: 14.2″ (36.1 cm)
- Weight: 18.3 lbs (8.3 kg)
Build & Design Quality
This TR7020 printer has mediocre build quality. The body is made of plastic and for the most part, feels very sturdy.
In the rear input, the tray is thin and it feels fragile, this is different from the PIXMA TR7520, the screen display cannot be tilted vertically so it is easier to see.
The printer must be on when you want to replace the cartridge, and the slot for inserting it is labeled. The scanner lid is slightly raised, this is enough to accommodate larger items such as books.
Users have a little difficulty accessing the jammed paper. And finally, there’s a white light that keeps moving from left to right over the output tray while in the middle of your print job.
Display Screen
This Canon printer has a mediocre screen. They use an OLED screen with good contrast between white and black. There are a few physical buttons on the side, and navigating through them is easy. However, the screens are very small, lack touch capability, and they are difficult to see while sitting because you can’t tilt them at all.
Cartridge
This PIXMA TR7020 has a pretty bad cartridge system. They have only two cartridges; Fair color page yield, but a very low black page yield.
No third party cartridges we could find, but Canon sells high yield cartridges. We tested the color page results using yellow pages, but cyan and magenta each printed the full 11 pages before they ran out.
Scanner
As for the scanning features, this Canon TR7020 is great. They have flatbed and sheetfed scanners but don’t support duplex scanning, so it may take more time to scan two-sided documents.
The default scan resolution of this Canon TR7020 is 600 DPI, but you can still increase it using the Canon IJ software to 1200 DPI. It is different from Canon TR7520, they do not have a fax feature.
Printing Speed
Speaking of speed, this TR7020 has a bad rating. The printer prints black and color pages very slowly, and it can take a while for the photos to print.
The front input tray holds 100 sheets of plain paper, while the rear input tray also holds 100 sheets of plain paper, 20 sheets of 4x 6″ paper, or 10 sheets of 5×7″ paper. The automatic document feeder has room for 35 sheets of letter-size paper or five sheets of legal-size paper.
Cost-Per-Print
The printer has a decent cost per print. Ink cartridges are inexpensive, but because of their low page yield, you may need to purchase new cartridges frequently if you print a lot and need replacing all of the color cartridges when one color runs out.
Canon offers an ink subscription called ‘Auto-Replenishment Service’ this will automatically ship new cartridges when you are low.
Note that even if you are printing in black only, most inkjets will continue to use color cartridges for service tasks, so you will still need to replace them.
Photo Printing Quality
Canon PIXMA TR7020 has good photo printing quality. They are bright in color and look good overall, especially yellow. However, the face looks slightly freckled, and very dark black skin has a blue tint.
Color Accuracy
The PIXMA TR7020 has decent color accuracy. They are good enough to add some color to a presentation for work or school but they are not accurate enough for those of you who need the right color.
Printing Size
The Canon TR7020 supports most paper sizes ranging from 4×6″ photo to legal size paper. The front input tray has an additional tool for loading larger sizes, while the rear input tray has an adjustable slider for the photo size.
Connectivity
The Canon TR7020 has great connectivity features. Users can connect via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, or simply use a wired USB connection. But unfortunately, this printer does not support external storage devices such as SD cards and USB drives.
Mobile Print App
Canon PRINT Inkjet / SELPHY outstanding with its features. This allows you to create photo items such as calendars, as long as you have downloaded the Canon Easy-PhotoPrint Editor app. You can order new cartridges, check the ink levels, or access online manuals. You can also scan items from the printer directly to your phone.
