Brother MFC-J995DW Inkjet All-In-One Printer

Brother MFC-J995DW Inkjet All-In-One PrinterBrother MFC-J995DW is an Inkjet All-In-One Printer that is ready to meet all your printing, copying, scanning, and faxing needs for your home or office.

It offers print resolutions of up to 6000 x 1200 dpi, clear and clear documents, and graphics on pages measuring 8.5 x 14 inches.

Copying and scanning are possible through a flatbed CIS scanner. This unit also has a fax capability that can store up to 180 pages in memory and transfer files at a speed of 14.4 kb/s. In addition, the MFC-J995DW printer allows you to print wirelessly from desktops, laptops, smartphones, and tablets via NFC and Wi-Fi.

Below is a complete review of the results of the tests we have done to make it easier for you to draw conclusions regarding this product.

The MFC-J995DW printer is quite tall and wide and will require permission at the top to be able to open the scanner lid.

  • Height: 7.6″ (19.3 cm)
  • Width: 17.0″ (43.3 cm)
  • Depth: 13.3″ (33.7 cm)
  • Weight: 18.1 lbs (8.2 kg)

Build & Design Quality

Brother MFC-J995DW has a pretty good design, the whole building feels very sturdy and ink cartridges are also easy to access from the front of the printer. The input tray and scanner lid are very well built, but unfortunately, the power cable cannot be removed.

USB and ethernet ports are located inside the printer, under the scanner base, and there is a path to direct the cable to the back of the printer. This cable routing will shorten the cable by about one foot, so you might need a longer cable if you plan to use this port.

Display Screen

There is a 2.6″ (6.7 cm) screen console on the front, which can be tilted upward for better visibility. The touch screen is rather small, but it is very responsive and has a very good viewing angle.

Brother MFC-J995DW has an extraordinary cartridge system. This is thanks to the Brother INKvestment Tank Ink System, which can hold more ink per cartridge. The ink cartridge is very easy to access from the front and the printer also accepts the Ultra High Yield Brother (LC3035) cartridge.

A third-party ink cartridge is available, but the printer will not recognize the yellow cartridge; your mileage can vary.

During the test, it stopped printing after the yellow ink ran out and prevented us from printing other colors until the yellow ink cartridge was replaced.

Please note, MFC-J995DW made by Brother has impressive scanning features. The scan resolution and color depth are great for those of you who need to make a bigger copy or do a little revision of the photo. Unfortunately, even though they have an automatic document feeder, it can’t do two-sided scans like the Epson WorkForce WF-7720.

Printing Speed

Speaking of speed, this is a fast printer. For black and white documents, the printing speed does not differ greatly between the first page and the next page, and printing a color document is as fast as a black-only document.

Cost Per Print

The MFC-J995DW per-print print costs are extraordinary. Costs remain low even if you print in large quantities.

Remember that even if you only print in black, most inkjet printers continue to use color cartridges for service tasks, so you might still need to replace them eventually.

Photo Printing Quality

The photo print quality looks very good. The image is detailed, but we notice that there are some fine margins when printing certain colors or shades of gray. Although this printer can do borderless printing, the images are often out of tune and require manual adjustment.

Color Accuracy

Brother MFC-J995DW has proper color printing accuracy. Most colors are inaccurate; We do not recommend tasks that require accurate color reproduction.

Printing Size

The printer has an input tray at the front and a manual feeder at the back for smaller photo paper. To use the rear feeder, you must first remove the paper from the input tray at the front.

MFC-J995DW has excellent connectivity options. It has NFC capability for fast installation and using it will launch the Brother application on mobile devices. We can make connections when using the Mopria app, but we cannot print or scan. You can also print directly from a USB key or SD card.

Mobile Print App

The MFC-J995DW printer is compatible with the Brother iPrint & Scan mobile app, which allows you to print, scan, or copy directly from the application.
