Brother HL-L2390DW All-In-One Monochrome Laser Printer

The compact and full-featured Monochrome HL-L2390DW Laser Printer All-In-One from Brother will be welcomed in your home or small office. The all-in-one design makes it the right choice for space-oriented offices because it is suitable for printing, scanning, and copying in one unit.

Brother HL-L2390DW All-In-One Monochrome Laser PrinterIn addition, the printing ability is also very good. It offers a maximum resolution of 2400 x 600 dpi and print speeds of up to 32 ppm. The printer can also work with documents up to 8.5 x 14 inches using a 250-sheet input tray or a single-sheet manual feed slot.

Scanning and copying are possible through the inclusion of an 8.5 x 11.7-inch flatbed. In addition, the optical resolution of 1200 x 1200 dpi also ensures that scanning is detailed and sharp. For operation, the HL-L2390DW has a two-line monochrome LCD to check the current status and settings.

In addition, Wi-Fi connectivity features, in addition to the standard USB 2.0, for fully wireless operation and support for printing directly from mobile devices. Below are the detailed test results that we have done so that you get the idea before making a purchase of a laser printer.

Design Quality

Brother HL-L2390DW has exceptional quality and shape. The plastic shape feels very sturdy, and the printer includes grooves on each side so that it’s easy to move. Paper tray cassettes can be expanded to load different lengths and width formats.

The design makes it so that you can easily access paper jams from the backside of the printer by pulling the compartment door. The scanned cover can also be raised to easily scan larger items. Unfortunately, the power cable is attached to the printer and it cannot be removed, so it is very difficult to replace if they are damaged.

Display Screen

For the viewer, the Brother HL-L2390DW has a two-line LCD screen which is quite bad. It has poor visibility from any angle and is best seen when standing directly in front of it. The only positive is that it lights up, but other than that, it is a very basic display with decent menu navigation options and no ability to rotate or tilt.

Cartridge

For cartridge matters, the Brother HL-L2390DW has an exceptional cartridge system. Toner is a separate unit from the drum unit, so you no longer need to replace the drum every time you replace the toner.

The printer accepts third-party toner, but using it can void the warranty. It also has impressive black page yield estimates, so you no longer need to replace the cartridge as often as possible.

Connectivity

The Brother HL-L2390DW has decent connectivity options. It supports the AirPrint and Mopria print options, but they do not support Bluetooth or Ethernet connections. In addition, the printer cannot print from storage devices such as USB thumb drives.

Mobile Print App

Brother is amazing with the iPrint & Scan app. This gives you the option to print, scan, and copy documents directly to your phone. You can also use the application to check machine settings such as ink level status and firmware updates for your device.

Printing Speed

The printing speed of this HL-L2390DW printer is incredible. The first page that comes out takes only a little longer, but the following pages will be much faster.

Printing Quality

This printer is not intended for you to print photos. If you really need to print black and white photos with this printer, the grayscale includes several visible banding. We also tested photo printing on 8.5″ x 11″ base paper, because this printer does not support 4″ x 6″ or glossy format.

Cost Per Print

Brother HL-L2390DW has an excellent cost per print thanks to reasonably priced toner and high page yields. However, the drum does not need to be replaced after around 12,000 pages, which are not included in the price of the cartridge.

Scanner

HL-L2390DW has mediocre scanning features. The scanned cover is lifted about one inch from the rear hinge and closes what you want to scan, making it easier to scan larger documents. However, the printer does not have an Automatic Document Feeder, which means it cannot scan two-sided documents. The device also cannot send faxes.
